Welcome to JM!

I love reading and writing. (arithmetic? not so much.) I have kept a journal since childhood, written a couple hundred songs, various poems and stories, and, as of late, a historical fiction novella; Gwendolyn.

I wanted to create a sacred, separate space for putting pen to paper, or in this case, typing to text. I am in a brand new season of life I like to call “Better late than never.” This applies to Love and Literature. (The two are close neighbors in my world.) My mid-forties came bearing gifts. One was a second chance at marriage-a really good one this time. The other, a deepened fascination with the art and vocation of writing.

When I was young I mostly wrote songs for the purpose of singing them. Now that I am older, I still sing but find more pleasure and peace in writing itself, be it song or story.

Maybe it’s my age, the weight of collected pain, the passing of the performance torch to a more energetic generation. Whatever the reasons, most days I would gladly sip coffee over words of interest or inspiration more than I would belt out tunes for large, adoring crowds. Something of a loud imagination in a quiet room settles me.

Over the next decade, I should expect to see a flourishing in the gardens of both matrimony and authorship. I am intrigued by and called to both occupations. I have a lot to learn. Isn’t that the journey?

When curiosity befriends humility, we can go far, and with grateful hearts; “gentle, quiet spirits.”

Here’s to a new path!
